The ‘After Harvest Robotics’ project is an exciting initiative that will change the way we work in greenhouse horticulture. By using advanced technologies such as AI, vision, robotics and smart mechanisation, we aim to fully automate the post-harvest process, with smart logistics and autonomous systems. This is essential for making robotic harvesting possible in the first place.
This also means that many of our current tasks, such as sorting, grading and packing, will move from the warehouse to the plant, allowing us to work much more efficiently.
We are adapting our infrastructure and working methods to support these new technologies. Think of automated systems that can operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. This not only helps to reduce costs and food waste, but also ensures that our food is safe for consumers.
