VDL Groep extends sponsorship contracts with PSV and FC Eindhoven for 5 years
VDL Groep has extended its long-term sponsorship contracts with PSV and FC Eindhoven for another 5 years. This means that the sponsorship contracts with these professional football organisations will continue until at least 2030. The collaboration between the family-owned industrial company based in Eindhoven and PSV began in 1988, while the collaboration with FC Eindhoven began in 2000. VDL Groep is one of the companies that enjoys the longest affiliation with both the FC Eindhoven and PSV clubs. The announcement of the contract extension coincides with the ‘Lichtstadderby’. This evening at the Philips Stadium, around 4,000 VDL colleagues will be attending the annual showdown between PSV and FC Eindhoven ahead of the new football season.
VDL Groep has been part of the regional Brainport partnership (main sponsor) since its establishment in 2019, alongside with PSV and other participants including ASML, CSU, Jumbo, Philips, Rabobank, Royal Swinkels and Brainport Eindhoven. In this collaboration, the partners are jointly committed to increasing and strengthening the brand awareness and reputation of the Brainport region. We do this partly by focusing on social issues such as connection and fellowship.
‘Role of VDL is of great significance’
Frans Janssen, Commercial Director of PSV: “VDL Groep has been a reliable and valuable partner for many years. VDL’s role in the Brainport consortium is of great significance. It cannot be underestimated. We stand strong together in the Brainport region, partly thanks to VDL. We look forward to continuing to work together to achieve success in the sporting and social realms.”
Strength through cooperation
Willem van der Leegte, President & CEO of VDL Groep, is proud that VDL Groep is committing for another five years as co-principal sponsor of PSV. Right from the outset of this unique partnership in 2019, we and the other partners have been working tirelessly on this great collaboration to further promote our Brainport region on the national and international stages. This also allows us to get all the residents of our region involved in the success of Brainport. The approach of this unique partnership fits in seamlessly with the DNA of our family business: strength through cooperation.”
In addition to the extended cooperation with PSV, VDL Groep has also announced a second contract extension with FC Eindhoven. This collaboration, now entering its 26th season and 21st season as jersey sponsor, is one of the longest-running partnerships in Dutch professional football.
VDL Groep sponsors the entire FC Eindhoven stronghold: the professional football club, the amateur branch, the women’s division, the youth academy, the indoor football team and the social pillar, FCE Foundation. In doing so, VDL is contributing to the broad social and sporting roles that the club plays in the city and region. What once began as a traditional sponsorship agreement has grown into a tight-knit and enduring relationship based on regional pride and strength through cooperation.

‘Building together for years’
“Some connections are formed not on paper, but in the heart,” expresses FC Eindhoven Director Peter Bijvelds. “VDL Groep is no ordinary sponsor. The people behind this family-owned business feel like our own family. They have been together with us building the club, the people and our ambitions for many years.”
‘Strong connection with the region’
VDL Groep recognises itself in the values of FC Eindhoven: passion, dedication, ambition and a strong connection with the region. Pieter van der Leegte, Executive Vice President at VDL Groep: “We believe in lasting relationships, in people who care about their environment. FC Eindhoven is the club of good people – and we feel right at home there. That is why we are continuing to build a future together. Through 2030 and beyond.”
Social commitment
VDL Groep supports various amateur sports clubs. Sport facilitates cooperation, connection, vitality and fellowship. For example, VDL Groep is an active sponsor of dozens of football clubs throughout the region. In doing so, VDL is contributing to developing young talent in sports and providing them with social opportunities. In addition to football, we also focus on running, tennis/padel, hockey, cycling and equestrian sports.
